I found me some decent hose off an old compressor i had with good results..straight from tank....It tightened 21mm bolts holding blades on a ride on and had to use a large torque wrench to undo them...so well happy with set up now! smile

I believe some of those lecky rattle guns are very good Im just a bit old school..

Just an update as I've had it a few months now. Been very pleased. Favourite use is with an air ratchet, don't know how I lived without one! Love it.

Limitations? Air die grinders are a no no. Borrowed one to try and there's nowhere near enough puff.

On the impact gun front, not so good either, but I don't know if my cheapo gun is going faulty or not. It seems less powerful than at first, and gun has started stalling. It is getting air but not turning even with no load on it.

On a related note, I'm sure I saw a thread in the past about optimising these cheap compressors by replacing the regulators and a few other tweaks. Can anyone point me to it or offer any advice.

I have two of these (an Aldi and an ABAC).
Aldi/ABAC version - 2.5 HP, 50 litre tank, £99.
OK for small jobs, and running for a short time, rather noisy, 97 dBA stated on the tank. It vibrates itself slowly around the garage when running! It is lightweight though, and I often pick it up with one hand and carry it about. The regulators aren’t great, although new ones can be had off eBay for £14.
The tank size allows some running with an impact wrench, but no continuous duty- even a blow off gun is a bit too much. A mate fried the valves on his using it to power a blow down gun.
They come with a 3 year guarantee which is incredible.
It is possible to get more performance out of them, with a larger regulator, larger diameter hose and a short hose length. I have another tank linked up to it (s/h - £20 - eBay), which allows me another 50 litres of capacity. As above, efficient tools make a BIG difference. By the time you have upgraded all this, it’s probably cheaper to just buy a bigger higher powered version.
Uprated regulator is a Sealey one of the appropriate size – ¼” will do for most of the time and just plumb it in.

My Aldi impact wrench (£20 worth) just wouldn’t shift some caliper bracket bolts on my BMW, and the compressor was struggling to keep up. I decided to use an SIP impact wrench, SIP07336 (£138 worth) and try that. Each bolt was off with the first press of the trigger.
Be warned – air tools are addictive. The speed a front suspension assembly comes apart the first time using them, will put a smile on your face.
