Just had a look at their website, socket sets 50% off (probably always are!) but are the any good and worth the money?

Not professional workshop quality but I've a 20 year old set which I've regularly used at home and they're still in great condition and all function as they should so no complaints from me. For the price they're probably the best out there.

I agree - I bought my set in 1987, when I bought my MGB GT (and, boy, did I need it). They were supposed to have a lifetime guarantee then, but I've had to pay to replace two of the sockets as I couldn't - so many years later - remember what I'd done with the receipt...

Halfords pro stuff is as good as any on the market and very good value for money and good warranty / exchange , my ops are built on 50 years of wearing spanner/sockets out + a couple of years selling Snap On for home use especialy I don't think you can by any better . My kit is as combination of most of the the brands you could name but the halfords stuff is now my main user ,as usual no connections other than a happy customer

The pro series stuff from Halfords is good, in my non-pro opinion. When I had a problem with something they just changed it, as they promise, no quibble at all.

The only bad thing I've found is the spanners are a touch soft on really tight stuff. But for most things they're great. I have a mix of Halfords and snap on

Why do you need a receipt if they have a lifetime guarantee?

Especially as nearly all their tools have ‘Halfords’ stamped on them laugh

I think they’re just trying to limit the returns to original owners, which isn't unreasonable.

I wish they did a hex (6 sided) 3/8 socket set/rail.

I find Halfords Pro stuff very good. I've had a couple of their socket sets now and apart from breaking a couple of small screwdriver bits they have been excellent.

The set I have now includes some black impact sockets as well as a decent set of ratchet spanners which are awesome to use.

Presumably to ensure that I was entitled to replacement under their guarantee. (does the guarantee extend beyond the person the items were originally sold to, or not?)

Another no pro here who thinks their pro stuff is fine.

Ive had a big set (£150 worth at full price) that Ive had for over 10 years now and Ive not broken any of it yet.

I've used them from general maintenance to removing and replacing an engine (with help of course)

The only issue I had is I went to find the receipt the other day after hearing you needed it in case something broke only to find its now a blank sheet of paper due to the ink disappearing over time.
