As the title suggests really, want to do a really thorough coolant flush. More specifically something that's likely to brake down rust inside the water jackets and aid heat transfer from the cylinder wall.

Anyone got a product and or procedure they can recommend?

Thanks in advance

Deox C. Mix as per instructions and leave it to do its job. If you use the car it can be left in as it works faster when warm. 1 week should be enough if the car is being used, then drain and flush thoroughly with clean water.

Thanks for the reply... It's a weekend car really so not used that often but when it is, it's generally fairly hard use! Perhaps mix as instructed and then go for a long hard drive?

Either that or I suppose I could use it as my commuter for a week or so

It works quicker when warm that's all, it still does the same job when at ambient just slower. At this time of year it's obviously +20'c over what it was in winter so you are already better off. I would recommend doing a sample - put a heavily rusted piece in a container at the same time so you can gauge what it going on in your engine. How well it works is affected by temp, concentration of mix and time.
You'll need to flush out your system initially to get rid of any sediment and antifreeze before you start the Deox off.

If you save the stuff when you drain off it can be used to de-rust other small parts in a bucket if you have any.
