Gents, please help.

My wife's 2007 Ford Cmax has had the battery light on for 2 days. she said there was a slight whizzing / whooshing noise too. I took it for a drive and didnt notice anything, but i was listening for turbo / air leak.
this afternoon she arrived home and it died, no lights on the dash, nothing.

I put on the battery charger but it wont charge, it wouldn't start with jump leads either.
the battery is 3 1/2 years old, all connections are clean, no issues previously. I drove it on Sunday and it was fine.

I am assuming its the alternator gone, I hope to get the local Indy to pick it up and have a look.

is there something i am missing / have overlooked?

any guidance, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Continual battery light means no charge from the alternator
Usually means the diode pack is dead
I'm surprised she made 2 days but by doing this you may have also killed the battery

Paul,

thanks for confirming my suspicions.

It is in the hands of my trusted local indy.

as with all problems, you never know until you find out.
