Currently 12 GT4's for sale on Piston Heads with 4 being added today!

To date only one looks to have sold via JZM, the other seem to be hanging around. Is this a sign that people aren't willing to pay the over inflated prices on these cars or people are just biding their time to see where the market goes when all of the cars have been delivered?

Also this has to be an eye opener to Porsche that a good number of the early cars that have been delivered to their favored customers are straight to re-sale? I'm surprised the 20-30k increase in price on these cars is enough to make people sell these cars especially given how rare they are and how good they seem to be!

Not really surprised, you could tell by the hype and general questions that many were just buying to flip on for a quick profit.

No doubt the king of GT4's is hoping to do the same!

Will have to see if they shift, but only takes one seller to drop their price significantly and I wonder how brave others are not to follow suit!

The prices are a bit silly I reckon, they are heading in the same ballpark as a 991 GT3!

It's a strange world when you can pay a £30k premium for a £65k car or for the same outlay buy a McLaren 12C that cost £165k in 2011

I'm hoping against reason that I obtain an allocation from a second batch in 2016 and it's desperately important that the 'overs' continues a pace because that's the only justification for being allowed another car so soon.

I've no intention of selling it if the impossible does come true, but she'll be happy in the knowledge that of all the crap bikes, cars. tools etc. that she will have to clear out when I curl up my toes at least there'll be one thing that she will be able to sell for more than how much I told her I paid for it.

(Though the explanation of why the CGTS has lost so much in a matter of months might be harder to waffle away given that I used the self same 'appreciating asset' reasoning to buy it. -Long term mind, which of course doesn't really count if it turns out to be a bit Walter Mitty).

I think it's more "what you would like" than it is "desperately important"..!

Judging by what appeared to be a compact queue of people in my local OPC last Saturday all speccing up GT4's, I'd say that any apparent premiums are extremely unlikely to be durable. Perhaps Porsche has quietly decided to burn a few speculators here pour décourager les autres. It would be hard for anyone to attack them for an action passable as meeting market demand, and I would be perfectly happy with this were it to be true...

This is not a rare car that will sustain overs for a long period of time , but it is a very desirable car that will deprieciate slower than most - it would be nice to have a market where anyone who genuinely wants a car can get one - the whole overs thing is bonkers smile

Really?

I couldn't care less as I didn't try to buy one but it is interesting to see them filling the classifieds at the inflated prices, just shows that they were bought to flip which is a real shame for those that actually wanted one.

Porsche should ramp up production to burn the fingers of the greedy speculators.

Would I be correct in saying that unless these are bought speculatively, the owners buy them to run on the track mostly?

From what (little) I know, they don't seem to be a practical road car.

Surely for most buyers the best combination of speed, power, and price must still be the "S" model?

But then again, some people can never have enough acceleration.

Nonsense, I'd run one as a daily no problem but then I did run a CSL on cups as a daily so perhaps not best placed to comment.

I can't see it being that many, but I'll take the bet, anything under 400 and you owe me biggrin

GT4 is a great road car.....in most cases perhaps 'better' than a GT3 (991) with more usable road performance.

Hence the remarkable Ecoty result with the GT4 winning.

It was bound to happen.
Porsche is not a charity and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they're currently cranking out more GT4s than GTS/S/non-S combined.

I disagree that the GT4 makes a good DD. Front ramp angle is far too low for the car to be usable where I live. A front lift would be the minimum requirement to even consider driving one daily around here. Noise level is also surprisingly extreme on the motorways.

It would be nice to think that I have an appreciating motoring asset for the first time in my life but if it turns out to just depreciate slower c'est la vie as they say in Kensington.

But as I don't plan to sell - paid for 5 year non-transferable tracker - it doesn't really matter.

What I can say is that it is a fabulous road car: involving, aural, tactile and yes, I will admit the manual box makes such a difference over the pdk to feel part of the overall experience. Still can't stretch its legs yet but I am smitten...
