[quote=voicey]My Automotech 7530 scissor lift arrived today. A big concern for me was if I was going to be able to re-route the hydraulic and air hoses to the other side - I wanted them on the other corner of the ramp due to where I wanted to site the control box. When I spoke to Automotech they told me it wasn't possible but I didn't believe them - my back up was to extend the hoses so I went ahead and ordered anyway.

First step was to connect it all up and fill with oil. I lifted the ramp up a little so I could get to the hydraulic rams.

I then disconnected the air and hydraulic hoses from the ramp and let the oil drain into a container. At this point the ramp is held in place with the manual safety locks.

Hi Voicey, I'd like to re-route a couple of hoses on my 7532 lift how did you drain the system? Did you just remove one of the pipes and let drain into a can?

Hi Richard,

I disconnected the hose from the control panel at the little manifold located at the corner of the ramp. I zip tied the end of the hose to the handle of the control panel so it was above the level of the reservoir and wouldn't leak out. At the same time I put the little jug you can see in the picture and let the oil drain out of the rams into it. It was dead easy to drain the system - just took time.

Cheers,
AV

This is my installation which is now almost complete.

This is the hydraulic hose which has quite an acute bend that I would like to re-align.

I've already added some quick release hose connectors at the control unit so that it can be stored away in the corner of the garage when it's not in use.

Hi,

Nice install.

If you wanted to could you change the distance between the platforms whey you install?

I've looked at a few lifts and they vary between 650-880 between the platforms. As the only connection between the platforms is cable/hose I assume you could set the distance to whatever you like?

What is the gap between your platforms and are you happy with it?

Thanks!

Matt

Also interested in this.

Anyone taken out any gearboxes etc using these lifts?

Excuse my ignorance - have you built up a false wooden floor around the lift rather than sinking it into the ground?

I'm looking to get a lift and sink it into a concrete floor, have you had any other issues other than just the routing/bending of the pipework under the floor?

Bit late to the game here but I bought a MaxJax portable 2 post lift recently. Love it so far. I think they are available in the U.K. Its great that it can be wheeled into a corner when not in use and has a pretty low profile.
