Hi, any help on the following problem would be greatly appreciated, I've been scrolling through Google, but although I can find plenty of people with similar problems, no one ever comes back to confirm what was wrong.. so if any have any experience with this issue, please help! smile
Vehicle: renault trafic 2.5 dci 150 (07 reg) 77k miles
Fault: after viewing the van today which performed fine during test drives, I have driven 3 hours home without problem, but realised the airbag light switched on after an hour, having owned several vehicles which have displayed the airbag light, I know you can usually turn the ignition off and on and it will disappear.. did this on the driveway as soon as I got home.. but now the van won't start! Power seems fine, the engine turns over, but it just doesn't get going. . After a check under the bonnet, have found one of the glow plugs snapped straight off, but to my knowledge, wouldn't effect starting the vehicle whilst it is hot and just had had a 3 hour warm up.. I've read a few things about crank position sensor possibly being culprit but really just need some advice!
Everything was fine 3 hours ago so not sure what's happening..
I don't think the airbag light is related but thought I would mention it as I'm N9t sure if maybe water in the fuse box could cause both problems..
Regards, James

The Airbag light coming on could be as simple as a bad connection at the seat belt pre-tensioner, moving the seat to a new position from that normally used often causes this problem
With the ignition turned off and the battery disconnected, disconnect and re-connect the Airbag circuit plugs at both front seats (they will likely be found underneath each seat) then re-connect the battery and test it

As for the starting problem, I havent a clue but you could start off by looking for an added alarm or immobiliser that is breaking some circuits

Quite common for the crank sensors on Trafics to go faulty all of a sudden just like you describe. Buy a genuine Renault sensor there only £27.00.

Just an update for anyone who may have a similar problem..
Found vehicle only fails to start when at full temp (coolant at around 90 Celsius) after turning off the vehicle for 10 seconds, anything after 10 seconds and it won't start for about 2 hours..
Used "LAUNCH" diagonistic equipment and found EGR stuck open fault ACTIVE when at temp (historic when warming up).
After a phone call to a vauxhall technician, he confirmed it will be the EGR stuck open, ECU checks it and knows it's open and doesn't engage the injectors as there isn't enough clean air (oxygen).
New EGR ordered, I will be collecting and fitting it tomorrow and will confirm it fixes the start issues once repaired! Bumper/headlight off job, EGR located at front of engine.. hope this helps someone in the future!

And airbag fault is definately separate and does log as "pretensioner" on LAUNCH. Thanks for the help, I will disconnect and reconnect plugs tomorrow! I have moved the seat a few times to be honest and the light comes on and off as it likes, so would definately think it's just a bad connection!
