I find for retrieving odd ferrous objects a magnet does a great job.
Assuming of course that you know WHERE that "odd ferrous object" is?Edited by PositronicRay on Wednesday 11th May 13:38
I am planning on getting one of those boroscopes, but I can already see it being highly useful to have.
At least one thing I'd possibly use it for, is for reading part numbers on vehicles that are in awkward places to read! I've sometimes found that one a pain. Hopefully it would assist with eliminating awkward neck movements. Gotta be a good thing surely?

little gem of a ratchet ..able to reach all those awkward little areas.
Had a 1/4 and a 3/8 ths for some time and is unbelievably versatile and tough.

Edit to add , not only is this a super smooth 72 tooth swivel head ratchet it also incorporates a swiveling T-bar style aluminium handle . Excellent quality at an excellent price

I bought one of these a few weeks ago to make some shelves as my drill was too bulky on its own - it proved really useful, even if the drill bit occasionally slipped:

Just need to find a use for a borescope now...

How do you use one of those things?
Do you have to hold the drill in one hand and the extension in the other?
I've done it the other way around.
Yep - drill in one hand while positioning the extension with the other (although I had my fiancée hold the drill, which made things a little easier still).Do you have to hold the drill in one hand and the extension in the other?

This thread has proved detrimental to my bank balance!
You started it!Great thread. It's more knowing the things exist really. As a vehicle tech I have a few neat things in my tool box. Some very simple but save you time.
Take the end off an old HT lead the plug end, secure it to a suitable length extension bar, gives you a great flexible plug socket that won't cross thread awkward spark plugs.
Also these are very handy.
