Whilst working on the car today, I found the part below just resting in an opening in a chassis cross member, at the front of the car, behind the bumper, ahead of the o/s front wheel. Car is an '09 A-class Merc. Any idea what is? Would quite like to put it back where it belongs.

I've not got it to hand, but it's about 15mm along the longest length I think. Can you elaborate on your description? What's it for in laymans terms?

Sorry - fat fingers!

Having worked in car/bike parts depts for many years, I think its a females clip that itself has a male clip pushed into it.

Modern car "bumpers" are basically covers that clip to a variety of damping and defensive structures.

Id not lose a lot fo sleep over it tbh.

I would second a headlight adjuster.

It was indeed a headlight adjuster. Now returned to its rightful home.
