I have removed the old ones, which was an easier job than I imagined. Have cleaned out the recesses with a wire wheel attachment ready to put in the new ones.
My question is; is any ole rtv sealant ok to smear around the perimeter of the plugs before tapping them in with an apropriately sized socket? Or is there a certain kind of dogs bollards one you have to use?

Any other tips from those who have done it before are gratefully accepted smile

Cheers

Only ever done 1 & didn't put anything on it as they were coated in lead which (after a clean up of the hole) kind of did the job of sealing the hole up.

Seems like a good tip. I've not come across this but have always used threadlock or similar. Sometimes I'll have used a gasket sealant but never silicone.
