Just after starting the car, I get this annoying noise. I have uploaded it on youtube (only 13 seconds long)

Please advise.

Thank you for your reply. Really appreciate it.

I actually replaced the starter motor couple of days ago, the replacement was a used one,

If its the starter motor, I am really annoyed that I was sold a faulty one.

when I took out the old starter motor, its teeth were a mess and the front nail bit (bearing bushing i think its called) had fallen off.

Thanks Carl

Should I return the starter motor to the person I bought it from or just live with it?

The starter is not disengaging cleanly once the engine has started. Maybe remove it and clean the shaft the pinion is on and lightly oil it along with the fork from the solenoid.

I'd also be concerned about the state of the ring gear on the flywheel.

quick wire brush and squirt with wd40 will most likley cure it , not faulty as such just got a bit grubby and not moving like it should

The starter motor is no good for anything, you will be wasting your time lubricating part of it, because there are problems with the front end of the starter there is a very good chance that the back end of the starter is also in a mess
Buy a decent starter motor

NEVER lubricate the business end of a starter with oil, grease or any other liquid.
The CORRECT lubricant is graphite powder.

The oils/greases will attract clutch dust and other contaminants.

and there is a risk of the oil or lubricant contaminating the clutch....

OP - surely a brand new starter isn't that expensive?

Thank you all for replies. I agree, its better to replace the starter with a new one. My only concern is that my previous starter was under a year old and it, especially its teeth looked in a mess and its front shaft had literally broken. Could there be more to this Starter story than what meets the eye?

A failing DMF can fill a starter motor up with steel shavings which will in turn stick to the magnetic parts of the starter motor and bugger it right up.

If the starter teeth are a mess, what state is the ring gear in? If that's chewed up it'll do the same to your new starter motor.

Is this why many starters have phosphor bronze bushes that need pressure oiling before fitting??????????????????????????
