I have a clarke cfc1000 engine, used it for over 20 years without issue and it has lifted anything thrown at it including an aga.

If you have space for one then buying one is worth it but you will become everyone's best friend.

An Engine Crane is the sort of thing you can buy second hand off ebay, use it for a year, and then sell it again for £10 less than you paid for it. I've completely disassembled mine - took about 30 mins - it breaks down quite well and doesn't really take up any room.
