Vito Ignition key/switch problems

Help sought.The ignition key/switch has developed a problem.Had to get A A out who couldn't help other than lift to my garage.they won't to replace the switch (parts £500)then it's got to go to main dealers for programming.Although it's my work horse can't justify paying out several hundred pounds on a 2004 vehicle.Any suggestions on a viable fix.Regards Baz
