Hi
I have a ford ka 59 plate and it only has 40,000 miles on it.
the car is juddering and engine management light has come on. I can also smell a burning scent.
It also started smoking from the Bonet last night after I'd drove it half a mile. Checked the coolant level, there is some in there, although it seems to have used the litre and a half that I put in two weeks ago very quickly. There are no obvious signs of a leakage.

Could the juddering issue be related to a coil pack? And would it be linked to the issue about the smoke?

It also had a new exhaust fitted yesterday, could any of this be related? The juddering began two days ago and the engine management light only flashed then disappeared up until yesterday.

If your coolant system went totall dry and you only put a litre and a half in, that is your problem! It probably needs bleeding to let the air out and more coolant in!
That's if the engine hasn't overheated past the point of no repair!

Hi
The coolant isn't totally dry. I can see that it is still there and around the lower mark. But it was only two weeks ago that the garage told me they had to add a litre and a half to it.

Your problem is the garage you use.

Is your KA the later shape model with the fiat engine? If so thermostat housings are common for leaks/breaking. Also the MAP sensor on the left hand end of the inlet manifold becomes contaminated with oil/carbon - causing Engine management light and loss of power/misfire. If you clean it off, clear the fault codes if possible and usually the car will run as normal
