I have trouble in starting my jaguar xk8 4.0 1998 convertible when the engine is cold it will start but after a few seconds sound like it is going to stall when I rev there is a delay on the throttle like it is missing a choke. once warm the engine is fine.

That's the sort of problem that can sometimes be caused by lack of maintenance (dirty idle control mechanism, old plugs etc). If it hasn't been serviced recently then you might consider that as a first step.

Failed coolant temperature sensor perhaps.
