Clio engine rattle - any knowledgable people?

I've been sent a video of my great aunt's relatively new clip engine making a sound best described as like when you put a lollipop stick in the spokes of a push bike.

Not a great clip but the sound is coming from the gap directly behind the radiator filler cap.

I could send it by text (if you dm a number) but can't attach here. Sorry.


It's a 2012 Petrol engined model.

Have you taken a look at the fan? Perhaps a blade has broken or something has come loose and is getting hit by the fan blades.

If fan is not running when you have this rattle then we can keep thinking!

Based on the video clip I have (should have made clear, I'm in England and the car is in Belfast so all I have is the video clip) Because I have an interest in cars any car related question gets passed to me, even though I'm no mechanic!

I don't think it can be the fan. Assuming the fan on a Clio is at the front of the engine bay, this is further back and into the depths of the engine.

Best I can do is add a screen shot or two from the clip and hope they help.
