My drivers side has come away from the top corner by the A pillar. There seems to be some question
as to whether the later style fits without a lot of phaffing. New ones would be nice, but re-programming
windows/trimming doors seems a bit uneccesary as the old ones appear to be in ok nick otherwise, can
anyone recommend anything to stick it back on at all?

I was thinking tiger seal?

Cheers

I would strongly advise not trying to use anything to stick the seal in place. No matter what you use you will not end up with a satisfactory result as the seal relies on the grip of a sprung U channel in the edge of the seal and any sealant will stop that working well (as I have found to my cost!). The best bet is to carefully remove the seal and if you don't want to replace it, squeeze the U channel closed, either by hand or between two pieces of wood, before replacing the seal. Tapping it into place gently with a rubber mallet worked best for me.

Personally I had no issue upgrading to the later seals without reprogramming the window timer though YMMV!

Cheers for the info Chap. I had a closer look at the pick on Racetechs website and my stuff
looks very similar so may have been done in the past. Had a look at crimping the 'teeth'
closer, but several of them had already burst through the rubber and therefore not gripping
at all.

Spoke with Mark at Racetech and ordered 8m of new as I may as well do both doors and
hopefully I'll get a little less wind noise!

Will post up once on/sworn at (delete as app) shoot

Cheers

Does anyone sell mk1 door seals???

I tried fitting the mk2 ones everyone seems to stock and they don't go....doors are unable to close properly......

A right pain the backside......

Perhaps they can be trimmed??

Any thoughts as to which parts bin the originals came from???

Mines a 96 and doesn't want to wear the new seals!

I found some of the correct type on eBay a couple of years ago but I must say (having a 96 cerb myself) the mk2 door seals are far superior. The doors will probably need spacing out; you may well find there's a spacer or two behind each hinge already that you can use as a template. The other cause of wind noise at speed is excess cabin pressure. Check your car has the vents under the rear screen and in the boot floor. The boot floor holes seem to be a later model and adding them to my car seems to have made a difference but I need a track day to confirm.

That's interesting about vents, I must have a look that mine are clear as my passenger window seals whistle at motorway speed. I wonder if that will help with some of the slight petrol smell I can get in the cabin at times.

Cheers will check out the spacer option as I'd like to change my old seals!!!

However I can see that "winter " job being put off for a bit longer...chassis and respray are on the horizon.....next few years....might as well drag it out till then.......
She looks far from tatty.....and I enjoy driving her far too much just now.......plus I don't see her stone chipped front when I am driving her.....POR15 will also sort for now too.......

I need another Cerbera to drive whilst i satisfy my OCD with my current one......smile

Right then, whipped off the old seals and pressed in the new ones. The doors do require a slighty firmer push to shut but without actually driving anywhere all seems to be fine! The ones I removed did look pretty similar although much less squishy (technical term). Windows are closing fine too.

They have dropped a years worth of salt onto the roads this week, so a road test will have to wait but I'll post up any changes.

I had a look around for vents in the rear and mine has 2 slots/dips in the leather at the very rear of the parcel shelf which do indeed vent through open moulded channels underneath the rear window so maybe mine always had the updated ones from new?

Anyhoo, hopefully a picture of the slot I'm on about for anyone interested.
