I rather stupidly volunteered to replace the starter motor on my nephew's car. Looking online this looks like a bh of a job? (doh!!). I got him to get a genuine motor and they said you need a new heat shield etc, it seems the original heat shield can only be fitted if the exhaust manifold is removed!! Any hints or tips for this job? It does sound like the starter as it was whirring away but not turning over (not seen the car yet). Cheers

Stating the obvious but make sure you've tested it with a known strong battery before you start work.
