I need to get a set of brake drums (8" not huge ones)
There is a lip inside each and need to get rid of this before I install
new shoes, and reassemble

Anybody know of anywhere in S.Wales that does this work.. I am in Neath.

When I had access to machinery could easily do jobs like this myself .. but no longer have the access.

Angle grinder with flap-disc on, steady hand is my normal method.

The lip is obviously not on the area swept by the shoes or it would not have become a lip.

I have an air grinder with a 4" wheel on it... I have used this many times to remove the lip on brake drums. Pop the drum on backwards and hold it on with the wheel nuts / bolts so it can spin on the hub. gently grind the lip off.

I also cleaned up the handbrake drums (with the discs on the outside, which were almost perfect) on a jeep recently like this... the drums were badly corroded. Made a lot of rust dust as I ground it off!

makes getting the drums off easier in the future...

I have in the past reversed the drum and ran the vehical in gear (both wheels off the ground obv!) and used the axle as an "A team esq" laith and sanded the lip off with some rough sandpaper/angle grinder.
Now obv i dont recomend doing this but it's a possabilty IF the vehical drives the axle the drums are on?
