I have an old OM602 Mercedes diesel engine that uses a Bosch injection pump (see photo below). It's 23 years old, but I believe it's a 1980s design. These were common on Sprinters, SsangYong Korando /Musso etc. I suspect that the pump is faulty and am going to pull it off for testing. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get these tested? So far I have been quoted between £150 - £170 including VAT, which seems steep. Any recommendations would be grateful

That isn't steep, these things are extremely complex systems & if you are having issues you want it to be tested right.

Is that just for testing or for a clean and replace of seal's as we'll
If the latter it'd say it's very good value

No it's just for testing. If anyone knows of anywhere cheaper I would be grateful. I can courier it if must.

Yes, but I suspect you can get it done cheaper. The cheapest place I tried, told me they don't know how long testing would take, as they send them off to another company to do it.

I've used these guys for some injector parts in the past, although never their test service: https://www.darwendiesels.com/43-test-and-report-o...

Don't forget you're talking about a labour and equipment-intensive procedure to properly test an injection pump, not a 2 minute job.

But then where are the corners going to be cut when you go even cheaper?

That would be my worry.
