For mk08, just in case you don’t know, this is a breaker bar:

And it is likely to be over 2ft long.

But there is not enough space under the car to fit love 2 feet long bar.

Park over a convenient hole. (as the Bishop said to the actress)

Can you post a photo of the Sump Plug your trying to remove?
This should be/is a quick and straight forward job to do.
Breaker Bar and Socket Extension. Correct Socket.
If you fancy a trip over the Mountains next week, I'm in Leeds and have all the Lifting Gear and Tools you need here.
No charge.

You don't need to do a full rotation!
6" movement of the 'handle' end will free the sump plug.
You can then undo it with your spanner (wrench).

If you aren't getting help or have any doubt about whether it will fail or not, leave it in and pump the oil out from the top using a Pela or similar vacuum pump. Garages use them all the time.
You really don't want a cracked sump or a broken thread/plug

100% this. Just accept that it's going to cause more problems if you keep trying to tackle it.

And then keep it in the boot, with a short extension bar and correct size socket, to ensure the wheel nuts can always be removed in case of puncture!

You are attempting to bring a knife to a gun fight trying to undo your sump plug with a little spanner like that.

Unless you can configure the car to be able to use the breaker bar suggested above, take it to a local mechanic and ask them to change the oil for you. Amazes me how much people struggle to try to save a few quid on a very inexpensive job in the first place.

Is the plug on the side of the sump or the bottom?

If its on the side you could stick the ring spanner on it, put the jack underneath the other end and jack it up so that the weight of the car is on it. Then just leave it, that usually does it after a while!

...at arm's length, lying at the front of the car. OP - you're absolutely wasting your time. The sump plug isn't stuck, you need to lift (& support) the car and get under it with the proper equipment, or simply pay someone else to do it.

yep just get the right tools ...and make sure you are turning the correct way , id lie if i said id never got confused especially if the plug is at the rear of the sump and youre facing it , just take a few seconds to confirm what youre doing is correct

jobs will always go wrong and be a struggle if you try and muddle through with poor tools
