Got an umbrella that is supposed to be screwed into the footwell/tunnel carpeting.

However I wanted to try less invasive attachment methods, so tried Velcro hooks to the carpet.
Sadly, the footwell carpet doesn’t seem to be compatible with Velcro, as it doesn’t get stuck on properly - probably different density.

I've heard of some sort of velcro variant that supposedly worked with carpeting in a Lotus, but didn't have details.

Does anyone know of any alternative non-invasive fasteners that work on carpeting?

If I can't get anything to stick to carpeting, I'll just use 3M/PS18 backed velcro on the vinyl/plastic tunnel cover

Usually fairly hit or miss.

I have reasonable luck with "proper" velcro: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001DYWT74/ref... - Will work on the normal quality floor carpeting, though won't take as well to thicker pile accessory carpets.

If you do have to stick on velcro to get it affixed, The stuff as linked is fairly decent in that once it's affixed, it's bloody strong, but equally will pull off (with great force) totally intact and without leaving much residue.

thanks, I only ordered the heavy duty one the other day, previously I tried normal velcro (didn't work, the carpeting is probably too thick or because of it being a cut pile variety, whereas velcro only works on loop pile AFAIK) and the one with rubber adhesive (gets unstuck after a bit).
I will try some other velcro sizes/varieties, and also the 3M dual lock, but it seems like this carpeting is too dense to use hook&loop

Can you glue a strong magnet to the floor under the carpet and use that?

I did think of magnetic attachment, but that would also involve puncturing the floor (or taking apart half the interior).
Will see if the tunnel is magnetic enough through the carpeting.

I could probably find something metal to attach the magnet to around the interior, but I'd prefer to fit this in the most accessible place
