The usual place I jack my car is uneven and gravely. I was thinking about moving some of the gravel trying to make the ground more even and putting a few slabs down.

Would this make the ground more secure or less secure? The slabs wouldn't be perfectly level.

Depends on what you mean by level... for instance a properly laid slab area that say followed a gentle slope would be fine same as a tarmac or concrete driveway

Some slabs just thrown down on the ground without any sub base or mortar then very much NO

I use the

'does it feel safe' rule of thumb. (appreciate not all thumbs are the same)

Concrete slabs of the sort you'd use for domestic patios and pathways are not at all strong and could easily break under point loads from jacks and stands.

This I've seen them brake with a car driving over then never mind being jacked up with the load spread over a smaller area

Paving bricks would be a better choice a lot stronger

I have 2 decking planks that sit between my trolley jack and the gravel drive.

Once jacked up I put axle stands on the gravel, with another solid lump of wood under a cross member, lower the jack a little so the axle stand is taking the weight, and get to work.
