You’re probably right regarding strength, I might be just be paranoid the cable will slip if it’s not tight enough. The bolt is approx 20mm long and requires a 10mm socket.You may need a specific bolt from a specific car model rather than seeing it as a generic item.
It’s on a mid engined kit car, the accelerator cable is 2.5 metres long, not that that makes any difference!
