Halfords Advanced sockets don't bear on the corners so you're much less likely to round a bolt than with a standard 12pt socket. I'd personally prefer 12pt sockets than bear on the flats, as HA do, than be terminally frustrated by 6pt sockets for everyday use.
HA deffo does, or has done, 12pt sockets as well as the 6ps options?
Hopefully that’s what I was saying but I might not have been very clear above.

I’ve got 12pt ones and never have a worry about rounding as they don’t bear on the corners.

I’ve not seen 6pt but honestly don’t see the need for them. If you need to apply that sort of torque then an impact socket is a safer bet anyway.

The little 1/4" only set, which predates it being even Halfords Pro let along Advanced, is bloody brillent.

Had mine most of my life, much be knocking on 20 years now, including originally it being my only socket set so especially as it does up to 13mm, has been used on plenty of things it shouldn't really. Cant fault it at all!

Just been on, and they have actually changed the box layout slightly. in the last few years, but this.

I’ve had the same set for about the same amount of time - mine came free with a subscription to Bike magazine many years ago. biggrin The logo embossed in the cover is the old Halfords from, when their store were blue rather than orange. The only thing I’ve had to replace is the bit driver socket, after the spring clip fell out. It would have cost me more in fuel to go to a store and claim on the warranty than to just order a new one from eBay, so that’s what I did. But it’s a top quality little set for sure.

Yup, Halfords Advanced. I have a 1/2” and a 1/4” square drive wrench and sockets. I used to have a 3/8” drive, but that became unnecessary. I still have a Norbar torque wrench, but as cars have got bigger, so have the wheel bolt torques!
Ratchet spammers are useful too, with a standard open ended spanner and a closed ratchet spanner on the other end, with the same diameter.

Bahco for my sockets and Norbar for my torque wrenches.

A few bits of (very) old Draper in there too...
