Good evening

I have a Fiat Panda 09 which does NOT come with a cigarette lighter. It came with a cd player which I changed to a digital stereo player (from eBay) that has a USB port. The stereo is working fine but when every time i try to connect usb cable, the stereo stops working (then I have to unplug the wirings for it to reset).
In short there is no usb port in car and I use my mobile phone a lot for navigation. Is there any cheap way I can install cigarette lighter or usb port.

Yes, you can buy a fuse box connector (plugs in a fuse position) and a 12v -5v USB socket.

Thank you for replying. I am not very technical. Do you have a link for a video or instructions I can watch/read?

Thank you

You could be letting yourself in for a whole lot of pain, it took a professional car audio fitter three attempts to sort my 2020 Panda out. Issues with Fiats ”Blueandme”, keeping the steering wheel controls working and watch out for flashing mileometer just when you think it’s all working.

Have a look through here

I’m surprised to read this. My 2016 Panda has 2 x USB ports (one in the glove compartment & one on the dashboard) along with a 12v socket between the gear lever & handbrake.

Some of the old models don't have any.

There is a guide for fitting a 12v socket to the Panda on the Fiat Forums but I would have a good read of the posts to see if you are comfortable with it.

The other option would be a USB socket with a piggyback fuse holder for power to the 12v cigarette lighter socket but would be a bit more involved. I've never had a Fiat Panda so I don't know where the fuse box is in relation to the socket location. Any competent garage/auto electrician could fit one. I have done similar with an Alfa Romeo Giulietta to get a 12v feed.

I've replied to your post about the flashing mileage in your other thread but if you do have steering wheel controls and want to use them with the new unit (assuming it does support them), Connects2 do an interface that works with the CAN BUS. It just plugs in between the car wiring and the head unit. I think they are about £70 for info.

Thank you for the message. It don't have steering wheel controls. I will check the link for fitting 12v socket and see if I can do it.

Woops - I didn’t pick up on the “09”.

This may be unhelpful, but don’t some basic, or so-called base cars have the same wiring loom as the more up market ones, as this is cost effective? If so a wire may be already lurking behind the dashboard or footwell.
