Galaxy number plate lights

I need to replace both lights for the number plate. Now I have got the screwdriver in the slot and started to pop the light out. The problem is that one side the metal spring clip is bent upwards, so can't get it out. I don't think I caused it.
The other doesn't seem to want to pull out so that I can get the bulb connector. It's like there isn't any length on the wires for it to come out fully. I don't want to force them too much and up breaking them.
Watched a few YouTube vids and all the lights just seem to come out with some length of wire then a quick swap of bulb.
It's a 2016 model if that helps.
