Got checked a few weeks ago, and they ruined my plans for lunch today grumpy

Had to bring a decker back down the A30 from Devon to Newquay after it had developed a leak on the hydraulic oil tank, so once it was bodged to get it home I thought I'd stop at the services a few miles past Launceston (known locally as tuck shop), check the fluids and grab a Subway.

Came over the brow of the hill and saw a yellow and black Galaxy parked right in the middle of the commercial parking area censored Didn't want to risk it so I carried on and missed my lunch.

Recently-

nr Chester, tacho & little hammer & brief tech check, advice on trailer wheel bearings, too loose he said, I'd checked day before yes bit of play but acceptable I thought, very borderline said he, but ok just, the other guy wanted to prohib me ref trailer brakes, inop he said, def are ok said I & they were, but somehow I got out of it.

Also Arnhem, Holland, more interested in paperwork for the 2 vehicles I had on, bloody lucky I had the reg docs, as CMR alone wouldn't have satisfied 'em, a pal had the same thing. This wasnt a big truck stop tho more a car stop that I got dragged into.

Swiss border, put me on the weigh bridge, overweight rear axle, denied transit through switz grrr, its a v long & expensive detour via the Mont Blanc to Varese when you already at Basel.

This week, a few weeks ago I was caught up in the French ferry strike, VOSA decided my ferry break took the piss and are in the process of relieving me of a few hundred quid.

We have a notice in our office stating that VOSA will not accept Dover -Calais or Calias -Dover as part of a daily break .
It's a P I T A if caught in delays that don't quite last long enough !
Then all the places to stop are full up .

Have any of you noticed the games you can play with tacho breaks on a digi? (not that I would ever do this). You know how if you used to move the vehicle it would leave a trace on the card, it doesn't do it on a digi. From what I can gather the box checks the vehicles status every minute, if you move the vehicle and then stop and put it back on break within 60 seconds then it just continues to count rest. It goes back to zero when you first press the button then on the next minute jumps up to continue where it left off. Printout shows no movement and neither does the computer when you download, probably good for taking breaks in a queue if you're that way inclined. I'm not, I spend half my working day asleep anyway, just thought that it was an amusing glitch.

The modern /latest digi tacho records seconds unlike the old ones which only caught minutes which helps when in stop start traffic as you don't loose driving time when not actually moving .
It certainly helps if you are an M25 friday season ticket holder .

Is it compulsory for new devices to record in one second increments and do new vehicles have to have them fitted.

The minute increment fiasco dragged on for so long. I remember reading that VOSA were reviewing the issue and testing in a vehicle which had a new digital and an analogue device side by side to see how much driving time was lost. That was in January 2007!

I have no idea if they are compulsory , I know the lease company we have most of our 7.5 T and 18 T trucks from like to "re -life" as much as they can .
They do "re-life" bodies, tail lifts etc .

The strike was at Calais, I got boned at Dunkerque / Dover, he accepted the break, but because the truck had moved he dismissed it and said I had done a shift equivalent to 35 hours, he couldn't understand why I had 1 hours driving at each end of my shift, 1 hour from Calais to Dunkerque, then all day in port, then 1 hour in Kent finding parking. The rest of the shift was spent in the sand dunes or in the port.
