Had the good fortune to see and phot BJ&C Carberrys latest beastie yesterday afternoon! -
As seen on the cover of Commercial Motor a couple of weeks ago. Its an 80T R560 8x4 fitted with a rather special Cormach 19m HIAB crane, serious bit of kit for sure!
This fleet runs out of Suffolk somewhere IIRC, only operate 8-9 vehicles, but each one is very well turned out i must say!

Now confirmed as the biggest tractor unit i've yet seen on the road!
Simply humongous Volvo FH16 540 10x4 of MPS/NRC making steady progress up the A1 toward the Black Cat yesterday afternoon with a 97 ton + (Before ballast!) Link-Belt (Demag?) heavy piling rig!

Just looked through the pics - pic 31, did the ship get sailed onto the sand bar when the tide was in, then everyone waited till the tide went out & beached the vessel? How were you able to guarantee the vessel would stay upright?www.toobigforroad.com

Had the chance to have a close look at one of Baldwins rather immense and impressive LTM-1500-8.1 beasties yesterday afternoon! -
Parked up in the middle of a trading estate in Eaton Socon. To say it stood out like a sore thumb would be a gross underestimation!...

Yep,That's exactly what happened, I spent 2 days down there with a Laser level to grade the beach, we had a dozer down there and a few excavators, to make sure it was at a gradient, and to make sure the larger stones had been shifted. Then a few tens of sand was riddled, and a ramp of gabion baskets installed. Previous to the tide coming in, a 'dance floor' is made up of metal road, for which the barge to land on is constructed. Once the tide comes in, the barge is positioned with the aid of tugs, between a series of buoys. The barge beaches it self and as the tide comes out a metal road is constructed on top of the riddles sand which is spread over the gabion basket ramp, and the road constructed down to the dance floor.
Barge opens up. off come the SPMTS carrying the barge. Then I measure the deflection on the bridge as it crosses over.
We have one landing on thursday now, I'll take photos and have a step by step process as i'm doing a presentation on it, I won't mind sharing on here though.

Just stumbled on this thread and thought I'd share a couple of snaps I have taken while at various load outs with work.
Sorry, I've no idea of the models of units
Colletts airside at East Midlands with 2 x Subsea Trees heading to Equatorial Guinea aboard an Antonov 124
Airside at Ostend airport in Belgium with various oilwell equipment heading to Lagos, Nigeria aboard an Antonov 124
an idea of scale next to the fuel tanker
Finally some cargo that was way, way to big for trucking at over 16m high. A suction pile aboard the Vitali Kozhin at Invergordon bound for Norway.
