My other half lived in a place called Campbeltown which is right on the end of the Kintyre Peninsula - you can see the coast of Northern Ireland on a clear day. A lot of logging goes on around there, one log haulier and livestock carrier, P McKerral & Co. Has lovely kit which I was going to post pictures of - how do I get the img code from Google on an iPad?!

Not exactly heavy haulage though is it?

Would love to know the story behind this.

That T Cab is still more than welcome though! Proper beast! Looks great too cool

Thats a HC Wilson unit being loaded up with the giant yacht ^ Great looking fleet, Based in Elmswell, Suffolk IIRC.
I see quite a few Wilsons, they haul oversized farm machinery and proper heavy plant mainly. Their trucks carry unusual titles such as "European Voyager" and "Continental Crusader" etc.

As Mr Murphy said, that's not heavy haulage!

Heavy is stuff like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3R8qevunx8&fea...

Interestingly, my recollection is that there used to be a lot more heavy haulage done ( I used to watch Wynns Scammels in the 60s as a kid) but these days you don't see much of it, it that because it has to be done at night cos the roads are too busy, or do we just not manufacture big stuff any more?

Thought so. Small world! I'd only seen your post as I was having breakfast about 45 minutes earlier. Drove off the M1 and thought it looked familiar.

So there was you and one other truck carrying the Komatsu and then 2 other trucks carrying the bowsers - bet that looks an impressive convoy?!

It was just us in the with the two Komatsu trucks on,the bowsers(G.C.S Johnson,I think) just happened to catch us up and it did actually appear to be a bit of a convoy at one point I think even West of Scotland haulage joined in with a Terex rigid truck on board.
I think we're due to be on site for 10-12 on Friday.

Where did you see them out of interest?

JST are based down the road from me, and one of those port handlers can usually be found hanging around my work.

Ridham Sea Terminal, between Sittingbourne and Sheppy. I dont know what they were up to though as they have a few big dock cranes there anyway.

clap Brilliant thread!

I've always been a fan of the proper big old dedicated heavy haulage trucks, especially Scammel Contractors, Diamond T980s and ANTARs. I've seen a few at shows:

Also a bonus Cat3 classic Volvo:

I'd love an ANTAR but I fear the 1-2mpg might become a bit tedious - serious kudos to those who have the deep pockets to drive them to shows!!! hehe
