I work for NG direct commissioning new assets onto the system.

LPT is a very impressive project indeed.

We have more than likely met, I've just finished at Eade Road, and now off to sort Islington out.

Come and say hello if you ever get the chance. We may have crossed paths previously.

We had the tractor unit of Volvo's equivalent in ours the other month. Very nice bit of kit. The engine bay has some very nice packaging to it and some neat touches. For instance the front grill hinges down once the bonnet is up and forms a pair of steps so you can climb up to get better access. Just a lovely machine.

Saw this long one in Tilbury docks today.

It's the whole length of the pic.

Not strictly Heavy Haulage but keep an eye out for 'Audrey' on the back of a low loader on her way to Aberdean tomorrow and Thursday.

Then she will be at 'Offshore Europe 15 for two weeks before returning to her base at Bicester Heritage later in September.

Who is 'Audrey' ?
She's the nick name given to her by the new owner of the Vintage Mobile Cinema (www.vintagemobilecinema.co.uk)

A couple of weeks ago she would have been coming home from a booking,

But Bicester to Aberdeen at 30 miles an hour and no powersteering would be bloody hardwork and loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

Two days on the low loader.

Is this that fabulous 60s contraption with the huge plexiglass dome above the cab, that was featured in Classic and Sports Car shortly after being restored?

Audrey and Ben her new owner

And I love this one.

Do we want a different threat on her exploits?

A thread just for the cinema truck would be a great read.

Go for it.

Need something interesting to liven up this section of PH.

Not exactly heavy haulage, but we get a lot of super-sized properly massive bulk tankers (that must be right on the size/weight capacity limit) on our site from Freund logistics. Why is this noteworthy? Well, I've never ever seen such a smartly-liveried and beautifully maintained fleet of trucks.
Its always a new Volvo FH pulling it, and the livery is very plain and simply but because of that it works so well, with no fuss, The colours suit it too - dark metallic green truck and pastel green trailer. Whatever the weather or road conditions are like, the truck, tanker trailer and all the chromed alloy wheels are ALWAYS absolutely gleaming to mirror-polished show standard. Makes me smile whenever I walk past one parked up waiting to unload smile

Here's a file photo of the sort of condition (and smart-looking livery) they are always in:

Always nice to see the latest posts on this thread, some great stuff! thumbup

Here's one of the more notable loads I've caught for a shot out on the road from the past couple of weeks smile -

EX RNAS Sea King IIRC. cool

Also pleased to announce 15-20 of my heavy haulage shots will be featured in the next instalment of the "High, Wide & Heavy" book series in the new year! biggrin

I see a few of Freunds out and about from time to time and always admired how well kept they are. Goes to show a good colour scheme and overall attention to detail/cleanliness can be all you need to make a lorry stand out sometimes. cool

In the same bulk tanker sector, Van Bentums from Holland (Amazing livery and their yards are spotless too!) Lomas Distribution, NJ Docksey and the always superbly turned out fleet of Simon Gibson are well worth a mention too!
