All this talk of waiting to tip and the time wasted at the depots got me thinking of the quickest load I ever picked up.
I arrived at Stewart's Cream Of The Barley warehouse in Dundee and was told to back the container up to the loading bay.
12 minutes later I was told to draw forward so that they could close the doors and seal them. I was then told their record was 10 minutes 48 seconds to load a 40' container.
If only more companies had the enthusiasm and speed of these boys we might not be in such financial turmoil today
One of the quickest wholesaler's I go to is Lansdell in Whitstable. The two lads on the forks even help to undo the curtain straps. Normally in and out in 20 minutes with your notes back in your hands. Blinding firm!!I arrived at Stewart's Cream Of The Barley warehouse in Dundee and was told to back the container up to the loading bay.

The drivers said that they had to sit in the cab during the loading operation (since it took minutes), and that they could feel the whole thing sink as the load was rolled in.
