Tonight is the first time we have actually been told to stand down due to the wind! Normally get told to decide for ourselves but got the call to stay at home.
Mind you after the fun and games across Shap last night with double decker trailers I wouldn't have brought an empty back from Scotland!!
Noticed there are no trains along west coast and they have just shut Thelwall Viaduct near me, think this closure may have clinched it for us to be honest.
Good luck to anyone else out there tonight...........

The wind is rarely a problem to me in the truck, most stuff i carry is fairly low and the weight of the crane keeps it planted.
But i have to travel to work in a wee Daihatsu Sooty Van.......eek

So it looks like 6 or 7 went over on my usual route if I have to trunk from Manchester to Europark Glasgow!!
Good choice to stay home.
Hope all the drivers are ok, back to work for me tonight now that's it's calmed down.

I think the wind managed to blow over a stack of containers in Tilbury docks yesterday, never seen that happen before.

Loaded out of Saica paper outside Manchester Wednesday afternoon.
28 tonnes of paper reels, well strapped down - that'll do nicely!

Spaceman, there was some scary wind in Calais this morning, I farted inbetween the heatbeat moniter shed and the UK customs booth, the Volvo had both windows down and the sunroof open whilst I desperately tried to get rid of the smell.yuck
