I drove an artic at 70mph, broken limiter, and let me tell you it was quite scary!

I've also been in a pantec' artic in Australia doing 70 at night with no lights driven by a drugged up Australian! That was fun, as I was also drugged up! Wheeeeee!

Some comments on here about hgv's saving fuel at a lower speed!
fact is most hgvs are geared for maximum fuel economy at 50mph!
and most supply chains want their drivers to stick to the speed limits, so if they increase to 50 on a single lane road then the company whether they like it or not can't really do anything about it, as hgv drivers can claim that they would get done for obstruction by the traffic cops if they where to run at 40

Oh to go back to the good old days where a speed limiter was looking at the fking speedo! The aholes these days rely on idiot boxes that govern their movements and how they should drive. As for the tts who enjoy automatic boxes rather than drive the bloody thing...... Tesco's meeds you, hand any free thoughts you may have had in at the door as enter.

Sorry but auto boxes are the absolute nuts nowadays. I used to love flicking my old manual DAF XF around the gears like I was driving a giant rally car, but the Renault/Volvo box I've got now is just as quick and controllable with the added advantage of not having a clutch in traffic, you just need to learn the tricks to get the best out of them. You'd be mad to spec a new motor with 3 peddles, the only thing that I hate at the moment is the lack of mechanical diff locks.

As for the speed limit, the only points that I've got in the past 10 years came from doing 56mph on single carriageway. That bloody gatso near Aylesbury got me at 6am on a Saturday smash

No idea how it did it, just looked like a normal camera on the side of the road until it flashed me and then I figured it must just be broken until I got points for it. Found out quite a few people have been done by it and now slow down for all of them.

It was on the A41 Southeast bound just North of Aylesbury near a village called Waddesdon.

that's the camera at blackthorn bridge, I got caught on that one years ago, 46 in a 50 but was in my tipper, 1st thing on a Monday morning, queue of cars all sat out looking to get past me, soon slowed down once I got flashed! if you look it up on streetview you can see a diamond shape weight pad let into the road just before the camera, at least that's what I assume it is?

Does anyone know when this is coming into force then? A date a little less vague than "2015"

Not yet we don't - I suspect that a site like trucknetuk will get the first post on when
