International Van of the Year 2015 though. And have to disagree about the trucks. Underrated and drivers, once they push prejudice out of the way really do tend to like them.TimCAP said:

Its just hitting 60k and in that time the work it has had is well....NOTHING
Its excellent, I love it.
It is really quiet inside, especially compared to the old shape which I also drive at work.
The turning circle is excellent, its like a black cab
Ours came with the reversing sensors/cruise contol which are actually really good, not like the cheap crap systems you sometimes get.
The only let down is the bluetooth system.
Mobile to mobile when I'm anything other than stationary is pretty appaling tbh. Speaking to someone on a fixed landline works well but not always.
Its mainly motorway miles as you would guess but the front tyres are still original and look to have loads of miles left in them. So well over 60k. The rears are still like new.
It drives like a car and revs over 5k. So I would obviously recommend one .

Ford raised the bar when Custom was launched. In the course of my job I drive all new vans, often initially pre-production prototypes a good 6 to 12 months before sale date. From the off the Custom was streets ahead of the rest. The competition doesn't lie down for long though, Vivaro / Trafic a worthy competitor but Mercedes Benz have done a great job with the new Vito. If you're running vans at their payload limit don't believe the numbers the manufacturers give you , I bought a fiat doblo XL with a payload of 1000kg
Took it to a weighbridge atnd it's actually 750kg , there's loads they don't count To get to that 1000kg, bulkhead,ply lining, side loading doors, etc etc
You won't legally get 1200kg in the class of van that's being suggested ,

I bought a 35C15 pickup new in 2007 , did 300,000 miles in it, sold it last year , mine had the 3.0 150bhp engine in it and it was far from gutless Caught a few cars out that thought they'd cut in front of me from the right turn only lane , nope
Shocking payload though, weighed 2.6t empty but I wanted it for the 7t train weight
I can honestly say in the 7 years and 300,000 miles Ii had it I didn't break down at all apart from when the battery died
Weak point was the diff, had 2 of those
