Hi
I've been running 140ps trafic sport and it's brilliant , after about 4000 miles its seems to open up more and absolutely flies even when laden . Personally for what I get for the money , there's no better van . Ive had 180ps vw sport lines , and transit custom sport , just way over priced and no better than Renault . The Renault is smoother , quieter than both , better on fuel , faster than transit , and on par with vw and I've had both manual and dsg . Go get one , you will be glad u did, and remember Renault offer 36% discount on van and all options

Just ordered a ll29 sport 120 crewcab which should be delivered this Friday.
I've had a lot of vans in my time often putting over100k on them when I was a refrigeration service engineer.
Had two vw transporters, a 1.9 tdi that was awful and a 2.5 5 cylinder that was a lovely drive but too small really once racked out, tried a Toyota hiace !!! Utter utter crap lasted just 4 month before my ears gave up with the row from the engine and the van was disposed of.
Then went to transits some of which where good some where pretty dire but over the years I've been pretty happy.
I don't use my vans much now as I changed my career to train driver however I still need a van to carry my 5 huskies over to our house in France and to walks etc, my last transit a medium wheelbase low roof T280 140 bhp limited spec was brilliant apart from the dreaded transit rust and I would happily of purchased another but for the price, £31:000 ford wanted and only a 1 year warranty, whereas Renault offered me a pre reg 120 sport crewcab lwb for under 20k.
I have all Ready enquired with super chips and can have the Renault remapped to 153 bhp while retaining the lower tax of the 120 over the 140 so I'm happy with that too.
Only thing I'm concerned about is I've been told the van has an Adblue system fitted which means more expense to run but only time will tell how much it costs to keep topped up.
Looking forward to trying the Renault, I will be off to France in two weeks time to stretch it legs

My wife's cousin has a fleet of vans and has just got two new Vivaros alongside his older ones.

He's very unhappy with the build quality and him and a mate of mine with one both say the back door holding latches aren't very good and they blow open in the wind.

One of them has bent all the hinges on the thing and Vauxhall won't pay out.

I recently drove a Renault traffic with the 140BHP engine and it was dreadful.

No low down torque of any description and only moved when the turbo spooled up.

Having said that, the interior was a nice place to sit and was very comfortable.

The 140 has 340nm of torque @ 1500rpm, amd two turbos to spool up.

Yes I had a look on the website, so I guess it's possible it was the 115 that I drove but I thought that only had a 5 speed and again, I'm sure the one I drove had a 6.

They are all six speed; even the 90.

I'm on my third Trafic van a 2010 LWB Sport. My first one in 1988 did 180K miles passed every MOT no problems. Tried many vans including a Transit that failed it's first MOT and virtually everyone after that, a Ciroen Relay that fell apart so went back to the Trafic.
I buy my vans new run them for about 10 years then literally throw them away the Trafic is by far my favourite van, but I have to say I don't like the looks of the new one, but as its not due to be replaced until 2020 hopefully they'll change the design by then.
Meant to add I had it re-mapped by Superchips and that's worth every Pound MPG went up from 37 MPG (fully racked out LWB with tools etc) to 41 sweet spot in the torque band went down from 2800 to 2300 made it such a nice drive.
Also started to use Hydra Fuels additives rather than 3rd tank of V-Power diesel much nicer running now.

Had my vivaro 120 mapped to 165 today.
Oh my god - a completely different van - the flat spot between 1000-3000rpm gone ! Pulls like a train, quieter and looks to be better on fuel !!

Indeed it does make a difference, I went for the middle map which combined a smaller power upgrade to about 140+ with better fuel economy and as you say the van runs so sweetly.
If you don't mind the phaf the Hyrdra Fuels octane booster and injector cleaner when combined saves having to buy V-Power diesel, although the vans run very nicely on it I've found it far too expensive. So combining the Hydra Fuels additive means you can just buy supermarket diesel and put the additives in yourself.

It does work as I've started running my V10 5 litre twin turbo diesel daily on the combination too and have not noticed any drop in performance.

Bought the new shape Renault traffic in Nov 15.
outer Door handle on near side sliding door, fell off! Renault replaced under warranty.
DAB function on radio ceased working. Renault firstly said it had been wired up wrong. They then said it was our taxi radio preventing it from working. They need it for several days to diagnose the problem, it still isn't working cos we cant afford to have it off the road. We have other vehicles on our fleet where DAB works fine regardless of the taxi radios.
Window catch on near side sliding door literally fell off on to the back seat when I closed the door. Not covered under warranty according to Renault at Derby. £400 to replace, Not been done cos I refuse to pay!
Its now developed a coolant leak. Booked it in with Renault Derby on 10/08. They diagnosed a faulty hose that had been routed incorrectly during manufacture. They also said that the vehicle has high mileage for its it's age (33000) which is true, but is it not a commercial vehicle that we've purchased? They claimed that they couldn't locate the replacement part. We eventually got the vehicle back on 19/08 and guess what?...its still bloody leaking coolant. So, a phone call to Renault tomorrow to see what they're going to do about it and wondering how long the vehicle's going to be off the road this time!
So, in essence, Not very happy!

Hi,

We've had the 140dci l1h1 for almost 3 years now. It's great a vans goes, you can't compare a high spec Vw or merc to one though as they are leagues ahead.
It's got good value for money with the equipment levels as standard and performance is good.
. However, there has been about 6 recall notes and we've had it in twice for brakes and many warranty issues in these three years, it's had a complete melt down where every system went array. Bare in mind it's done 46k miles it's a bit silly. It sure of these are 'teething issues' or general bad build quality, which brings me to just that, it's not the best build quality, its kerb weight is less than the old traffic, (we had one, great van) this shows, the body work is flimsy, shut the side door to hard and the panel bulges and you have to push it back in. Door handles keep going wrong and not opening with the central locking etc...
The van is well designed and has some great features to Help you about your day, has three cup holders, enclosed storage under the bench seat, load hatch for longer loads, inbuilt clip board and hidden storage around the cab The media system is Good too with Bluetooth phone connection and the fairly intuitive navigation system.
Now, our van has been mapped for about 3 months and I can say it's worth doing of you want more performance, it now sits at an estimated 175bhp and it feels it, being a twin turbo it pulls from the get go and mid range is like a car even with a half load almost always in the back.
I would get another to see if it was just this van as we have had our share of problems buy as stated above It could be teething issue svelte as ours was one of the first Long wheel base 140's to hit the road

Thread update..

My 125bhp sportive Vivaro is now 4 years old with 33k miles of 90% stop start London traffic.

Only issues I’ve had is the sliding door handle falling off but refitted same day by Vauxhall’s. Apparently it was going to be a recall issue due to no locktite being used on the first vehicles.

Other than that, no issues.
The service intervals are up to 2 years but mine asks for a service every 9 months or so.
It still feels new but it’s pre-adblu and I’m in the congestion zone so from April I’m paying congestion and ulez totalling about £25/day if I go into the zone so I may get a new van.

Also... there is a new van released now! Doesn’t look as nice as my model from the front but there is an Elite model now above the sportive.

At my work (Amazon) the common choice is the Peugeot Expert or the Citroen Dispatch and now the Mercedes Vito. All have been recommended over the Traffic or Vivarro. The Merc does best for stop start for fuel.

Probably more down to overall running costs etc. They take every cost over the life of the van into consideration. Also, depends on the initial cost of the vehicle.

I wouldn’t have a Merc due to the cost and also the rampant rust issues although I’m unaware if they’ve sorted the issue with newer models

Look good though
