Have only this to show at the moment
as we're not picking up our (new to us) caravan until August

The caravan is a Hobby 440 SF De Luxe Easy, which my parents bought new in 2004. When my dad passed away, my mum wanted us to have it, and after over 2 years of planning, today we took it out for the very first time...
Can report back that the M5 is a very capable tow-car

Hi greendiff,
I have been looking at the E300 Mercs for towing.
What weight is your caravan, and how does the Merc handle it?
Do you run on veggie oil?

I can help with the s210 merc question, my Coachman is 1340kg and it is very stable behind the E430 even with no fancy friction alko hitch or anything. Gearing is perfect for the motorway and a very comfrtable ride. Great load luggers, if a little juicy my one. Hi greendiff,

Caravan is about 1200, merc handles it very well, its a stable outfit, even without a stabiliser. I've only towed it 150 miles ot so, and that's all i've ever towed, so can't compare it, but it feels fine to me.
I do run it on waste veg oil, that i get for free, so i pretty much have zero running costs apart from servicing etc.
power is slightly down on oil, but it still copes fine. i've done about 5k on oil now.
any other questions, fire away!

We did a deal on this two weekends ago and picked it up last weekend. Already slept two nights in it, very comfy. OH and I are very excited about going away in it for almost two weeks next Wednesday!
1999 Knaus Traveller 575 on a Fiat Ducato chassis. 122PS 2.8 TDid engine with manual box. 75,000km... so far
It is an (expensive) upgrade from a Quechua 2 seconds tent which has served us very well indeed for the last year or so. That was an upgrade from another Quechua 2 seconds tent which did not have an entrance area (soon sold that, the lack of anywhere to hide during rain was a huge disadvantage). In turn that was an upgrade from a tent my OH bought a good 10 years ago which although was very good quality, it took a fair while to put up.
The motorhome goes to the garage on Friday for a cambelt replacement as it seems to never have had it done

90,000km is when the belt should be changed according to a couple of different sellers including the one we bought this from. However I found reference to "90,000km or 5 years" so 13 years is rather pushing it! It might have been done at some point but I found no evidence of that. Much better safe than sorry so it's getting done
Chap next to us had an Outwell Colorado 4 with a front porch. Looked a very well made tent, with lots of room to stand up in - I'm reasonably tall at 6 foot 2.
Needless to say, it was the tent that made us realise we need to upgrade, before the first night was over. That evening was spent on the laptop looking at bigger tents!

Rollcage - the matching Panda and tent is a cool touch I've got a bit of a soft spot for that shape Panda.
Meeja - that Outwell Montana looks quite incredible! How small does it pack down and is it very heavy? How much space does it take up in the car?
I had to laugh at this, it sums up a couple of our upgrades perfectly Especially the Quechua without entrance area to the one with. A couple too many dinners eaten in bed or in the car meant we HAD to get a tent with somewhere to sit with a table and chairs.

I hadn't even noticed the colour coding to be honest until one of the girls at work pointed it out, having seen the same photo! The Panda was fantastic - couldn't have asked for more. Real unpretentious little car, and didn't put a foot wrong over 1700 miles in 6 days. A tank scooting around the Highlands at NSL speeds gave 72mpg!
The Montana tent packs into a bag about 1m x 0.4m x 0.4m
The poles are in a separate bag 1m x 0.25m x 0.25m
The extension including poles sits in its own bag slightly bigger than the ten's pole bag
Because the poles are steel rather than fibreglass, the whole setup is not exactly light.
It takes up about 1/4 of the available boot space of a Range Rover.
That is our smalle tent too.... The other one we have for long holidays is an Outwell Hartford XL. Which is absolutely mahoosive!

Just had a couple of weeks of glorious weather on the Pembrokeshire coast.
Pics of our ever faithful Outwell Montana 6 with front extension.
Fabulous tent, really easy to put up, and plenty of space inside to chill even if the weather is dreadful.
I got an Outwell Trout Lake last year then the front extension in the sales after chrismas. Very pleased with it, does make sleeping outside a bit more civilised.Pics of our ever faithful Outwell Montana 6 with front extension.

Here if is a few weeks ago in France.
This is my recent purchase:
It's a 2004 Sunncamp 350SX Trailer Tent. Comprises of 2 Double beds and a 3.5m x 4.2m Awning with kitchen annex. Detatchable kitchen with 2 ring hob and sink.
Wet clothes drying in the corner
Sides opened up when the weather turned for the better
Fits nicely in my garage:
And theres enough room in there to fold it out should I get home after packing it up wet
Really happy with it and all for less than £500 My 130BHP TDi Bora pulls it with ease, though stopping is fun as the trailer is unbraked and when fully laden, weighs quite a bit!
Some nice looking gear in this thread
