I wasn't expecting to HATE towing so much. I sold the Airstream and replaced with a VW Crafter based motorhome. It's a garage conversion so perfect layout for me and the 3 dogs.... love it!

Another old one here, I gave £4K for it last year, we've already had it as far South as Cornwall and North as the Scottish highlands.

Size isn't everything!! After a previous tunnel tent almost blew away with me in it I purchased this Force 10 tent. It does everything I need it to do.

Oh how I laugh to myself in the high winds now when I hear all the D of E participants trying to get some sleep and they're almost getting blown away!!

As a side note the car is brilliant for weekend trips to Snowdonia. I can get 4 people and all their camping gear for the entire weekend and get from Norwich to Wales and back again on approx 3/4 tank of fuel.

Congrats, they are ace, even if I sold mine after 6 months because I hated towing - they are totally gorgeous. Enjoy smile

Last month at Buttermere. I've had the tent at every Lm 24 since 2002 and plenty more trips in the UK.

What a gorgeous spot for a beautiful van. Mind if I ask where you are?

Holgates Silverdale in the Lake District - highly recommended apart from the last couple miles of approach which was terrifyingly narrow for the first time tow of a 2.5m wide Airstream... eek

Slightly more confident leaving yesterday- took the advice of putting the hazards on, headlights, going slow and letting everyone else sort themselves out! hehe

After dallying about deciding whether we should buy a caravan we finally got round to it last year (not sure whether we wanted to be caravanners after being seasoned tenters) we took the plunge with a cheap 20 year old 2 berth to see if we liked it. My wife competes at dog agility competitions most weekends and since the end of May 2016 we have spent 80 nights in our old caravan (yes i'm sad and keep track). So figured we were using enough to justify an upgrade (tbh I'm lazy and got sick of making the bed everynight) so this is our new weekend retreat, a 2009 swift freestyle 550. Looking forward to its maiden trip this weekend and figuring out how everything works:

Congratulations! I had a 2.5 534 and I think that was the start of my towing nightmare, just too much for me. I hadn't appreciated the total length with the towbar etc

They are just so lovely, I hope you have many happy miles smile

Thank you - the towing does require much more concentration than a motorhome. I have towed plenty of farm trailers, but the width, length and value of the airstream does concentrate the mind... hehe

I'm hoping it becomes something I get used to. Managed to get her home in one piece.
