Cool!

We are taking the kids to Longleat in half term.

Staying at the caravan club site. Should be good as it coincides with Longleat's Halloween and fireworks spectacular.

£160 for 4 of us, including caravan, awning, EHU and 2 day pass for Longleat. Great value!
How many nights is that for Ross?

The reason I ask is that we've been a member of the caravan club for a year but never been to any of their sites and was curious to see what the cost per night was. Another reason we haven't been is that I've read that kids on bikes are frowned upon and our boys (6 & 8) love to ride their bikes and play ball games. Thats not a bad price considering you get access to Longleat. We're going to Parkdean in Sandford, Poole, for 7nights during the half term break for Haloween, which cost us £180 and includes passes for all the entertainment, use of the pools, tennis court, football pitch etc and thats on a serviced pitch with awning. We go here alot and I've found it difficult to beat it for value for money, so much to do for the kids which means me and the wife can sit down and relax, enjoy a drink and actually chat without being interupted by the kids every 5 minutes.

It's true to say that some older members do get a bit sniffy - but fair enough, they don't want their holiday spoilt by balls thumping against the van.

We've only ever stayed at CC sites so far and there's always been kids on bikes. I think so long as they don't start straying onto peoples' pitches or causing a nuisance then everyone seems to be quite tolerant. The reason there's 'No Bikes' signs up is of course, safety & liability but so long as you keep an eye on 'em, shouldn't be a problem in my experience.

CC sites always have one (or more) playgrounds, suggest you find a pitch fairly close so you can let them play in there & keep an eye on them from the comfort of your wine-equipped awning...

Our 4 year old loves the playgrounds and always makes a friend very quickly with one of the other kids.

We are members of the CC. I'm not sure it's really worth it - I find it generally quite hard to find availability when we like to go away. I think you need to book ahead as soon as you can, but that's not the way we plan.

Im a CC Member too. Has been handy on a few occasions getting on certain sites we have wanted to use. Always very clean, and well maintained from my experience though.

This weekend however, off to Brands Hatch for the BTCC. One night, about 4 miles away, £25 on Grass, with hookup! Feck!

Bargains are always good! Well dragged the caravan home from Storage tonight, the first time I have attempted to get the larger one up outside my house. Jesus Holy Hell!!

The lads in the pub - oposite my archway, all came out to watch, as they didnt think it would be done. Involved mounting the pavement, and almost rubbing the pub wall. The picture doesn't show it too well, but I have 2" either side of the caravan as I go back through the walls/metal poles, its fooking tight! I think if it was 1ft larger, it wouldnt be able to swing in! Thats worrying. We do have fun, my 7.5t lorry couldnt make it when I moved in either!

Well on Sat AM, made the 4am trip up to Lydden Hill from Portsmouth, 2 hours on the dot, lovely journey up there!

After Lydden, found a lovely site 2.4 miles from Brands Hatch, where we set up for the evening, didnt even bother with Aquarolls (I have 15l hot, 60l fresh) onboard, so not an issue really.

And then in the morning, to Brands. I wasn't paying another £25 to leave the caravan on site for the evening, so took it with me!! Genuinely, according to the car park guys, the first caravan to turn up in the carpark. They get campers, but not caravans! Was brill, if a little wet!

Even if the weather isn't too great, there is so much to do youll be ok. Im popping up to mine in the morning, I appear to have no hot water last sunday when I popped away in it, so I need to check why that is

Longleat was brilliant, the kids absolutely loved it.

Fantastic site, 200m walk and you're straight into the centre of Longleat.

Halloween was crazy - loads of people had really gone to town decorating their caravans!

Also realised that I had paid for a 2 day ticket for our youngest when I didn't need to (free for under 3's), so I got a refund. Overall cost for 3 nights and 2 day entry into Longleat for the 4 of us was £136. This included the firework display on Friday night. Bargain.

Sounds like you had a cracking time, and got a good deal.

I do love it when people go to town on their caravans at times like these. Makes the sites look funky
