I'm looking at buying a motorhome, but the one I've seen (that will suit us perfectly) does not have an onboard water tank. Currently it has a roller tank which would need to stand outside the 'van with a hose connecting it. There's a waste tank, so that's not an issue.

What I'm looking to do is to fit a new on board fresh water tank, possibly under one of the lounge seats. I can see that there's plenty of tanks available online, but not too much information about what fittings / connectors / pumps would be needed.

Does anyone know of a company that would supply all parts in a kit form? I'm more than happy to fit it all myself, but knowing what to buy in the first place would be a great start. Obviously the lower expense the better, and re-using whatever would be on the van in the first place is good - there's a tank connector on the outside of the van, with what appears to be a 12v connector to run the pump.

have a chat with CAK tanks in Kenilworth, they might have just what you're after. i've got a fresh water tank that goes around my rear axle, and a waste water tank under the back of my van.

As above Cak tanks are the daddies of all things watery.

Thats a very unusual van youve found that has a waste tank but no freshwater.

Slightly leftfield but to save internal space why not swap the waste for a freshwater tank and use a wastemaster for the waste, cleaner than a grey water tank.

It is a little unusual - it's an '86 Hymer 534, which originally had a porta potti. The current owners had a Thetford toilet fitted in its place, plus waste water - but I guess they felt that fresh was fine on an external tank still. They came from a caravanning background, so I guess that's what they were used to.

That makes sense.

Still find it utterly weird that its not got a freshwater tank,Hymers back then were top quality and even the uk stuff all had fresh tanks.

The other salesman at our place sold Hymers back then, will ask him about it tomorrow.
