Italian lakes

Thinking of going to one (or more) of the Italian lakes (not choosy about which one!!) in september with a small sailing boat .. has anyone any experiences of any decent lakeside campsites on the edge of the lake where we could put our boat in? thanks

Lake Garda has a load of sites around the bottom end, should be quieter in September too. Look around Desenzano Del Garda or anywhere on the Sirmione peninsula

Look at some of the other smaller lakes too - Iseo is nice

thanks for those ... there's so much choice it's hard to cut through it all , maybe we should just turn up, but I do prefer to have something booked. No children involved, so maybe the first one's a bit of an overkill. I'll have a look at that smaller lake, thanks

In September, you'll have no problem getting a lovely lakeside pitch, at any of the Italian Lakes - all the Dutch will have gone back to the flatlands and all the kids will be back in school. We're heading for Italy in July/August and we have nothing booked, hopefully we'll get lucky!!

Have a look at Lake Iseo, its west of Lake Garda. Its less commercialised and quieter than the other Italian lakes

thanks .. yes Iseo looks great, so I've booked Camping Covelo, can't wait!
