I'm not, so need something at least reasonably spacious if I'm to live in it for a few days at a time. Still dithering!

PS are you particularly small? The Wrangler isn't a big car.
True it is not very big but the 4 door is ok for a double airbed when the back seats are folded down. Fine for a weekend camping when going fishing etc.

There are plus and minus points with any vehicle.

I can't make my mind up if that interior is reasonably pleasant or utterly horrid.

I think I could ignore it if not for those vents. What were they thinking? They look like they belong in a childrens play kitchen.

"Since 1941" on the grab handle is a particularly naff touch.

I thought this thread would have ended as soon as someone posted a Mitsubishi delicia?! Strange it hasn't...... So, how about a Ford Explorer? I'm 6'6" and spent the night in the back of one and had loads of room

As soon as I read the title I thought of a Mazda Bongo. Surprised the thread didn't close when it was first mentioned.

I reckon a RWD transit on all terrains would be as handy as a Bongo, not least because you wouldn't be scared of damaging it.

A go anywhere machine, can travel to remote locations in and sleep in for a few days at a time...

I like the look of Defenders but chose the Jeep Wrangler for driving luxuries.

I don't think you'd want to go anywhere too remote in one of those - the reliability issues I've heard of are not good eek

Mitsubishi Delica - very roomy inside and brilliant off road. Build like a tough old boot also

I'll be honest, I did 't even know what that was until,I looked it up. I do like the thought of toughness and reliability (!). A bit like the Toyota or Mitsubishi (can't remember right now) Top Gear tried to kill.

Hilux, 4runner might be a good option, basically a hilux with a suv body. Hilux with a truckman would be my choice tbh, nice small area to sleep so easier to heat up, throw a load liner and a mattress in the back job done.

An ex colleague made a fairly robust tourer

His plan is to do a full world tour - I don't know if he has yet. But by 2013 he had done hot testing and cold testing above the Arctic circle. It's a little sung inside but then he's about 5' 6" so it's perfect for him.

Edit to add: this was in no way a cheap option wink
