Camping in the Brecon Beacons in February
Discussion
I was going to start my own thread about this but used the search!
I am doing the Fan Dance Race in January and I was thinking about camping to add to the miserable military style experience. Having read this though I am not so sure. We had some friends who always bought the best stuff. They emigrated and sold us all their camping stuff for £100. Including a 10 man tent and 6 top end sleeping bags, stove etc. So I have all the gear but no idea. I haven't camped since I was in the scouts almost 30 years ago. Probably not a good idea.
Seems that there a plenty of half decent hotels nearby and going back to a tent after hiking in the freezing cold for hours doesn't sound much fun. If I did do I would definitely be on a camp site. Not wild camping

If you camped somewhere with EHU and decent showers it might be worth it - it's surprising how much difference a small fan heater and a quick brew can make. Without EHU, I'd pass personally.I am doing the Fan Dance Race in January and I was thinking about camping to add to the miserable military style experience. Having read this though I am not so sure. Good luck. The worst thing about the Winter Fan Dance isn't the weather or the route - it's the whole wannabe TA ethos of the thing, and every other word being, 'ally,' or 'nails.'

Thanks. Had a look for campsites with EHU but most only seem open in the summer. Will keep looking. There is a nice looking hotel/lodge 5 mins from the start though!Good luck. Yeah I have seen what you mean already. I read someones blog about doing the race and they were using all the military slang, nails especially. Think they were a plumber from Essex.
