4 more sleeps then our 2016 adventure starts.

One week at Watergate Bay with a big group of friends in a mix of Vans, Motorhomes, Tents and even a cottage then two families hook up, get the ferry from Plymouth across to Roscof and a 4 hour drive to Carnac for the second week.

Bit of a shorter drive than last years trip to Lake Garda with the van and to be fair Im already missing that part of the adventure - I love a long trip.

Sun has started early, lets hope Cornwall keeps it for next week
Sounds great!

We used to go to Lake Garda with the caravan as kids. Fantastic holidays. I might look into doing it in a year or two with our kids.

Got a great little stop over just south of Djion, stay there a couple of nights out and a couple of nights back - drove up through the Monte Blanc and the m/way is stunning.

Stayed last year at Bella Italia right on the lake - nice site but bloody massive! Probably find one much smaller when we go again. Salo was stunning so might move around that side a little more.

Next years road trip planning is already underway.....Cote D'Azur here we come....

Sounds good, except for the Carnac bit. We went there years ago when the kids were tiny and had a great time, we stayed in a Eurosites camp not far from the beach. Fast forward a dozen or so years and we had a stop over there on the way further south. All of a sudden everyone spoke English and there were Union Jack shorts everywhere. So disappointing.

But apologies for maybe p*ss*ng on your chips somewhat, hope you have a great time and it's nice and hot on the beach :-)

Haha - Ive driven all the way to Spain with the van and pitched up alongside Welsh/Scots and English - its what we all do in the holidays, but its how we do it that makes the difference.

Its a lovely site we have found (http://www.lagrandemetairie.com/en/) and seriously cant wait!!!

3 more sleeps...

Had a fantastic 2.5 weeks in France. Returned on Saturday evening.

Another great stay at Domaine de la Breche, near Saumur. And a fabulous week at Chateau de Chanteloup - what a cracking site. Will be returning for sure!

1 more sleep and then its off to Woolacombe :-)

Staying 2/3rds of the way down for 1 night after travelling down to Dorset in one hit on a saturday last year and having a miserably long journey.

Then 7 nights on the Caravan Club site.

Weather looks good and got the wetsuits, body boards, canoe and bikes.

So glad we changed cars to an XC90.
With 3 growing kids it wasn't fun for them last year for 7 hours sat in the back of an Avensis estate.
Also auto + big diesel engine = relaxed driver

Is that one of the new XC90's? They're bloody lovely. Too much money for me but I'd love one!

Out of interest, where do you stop south of Dijon?

Booked up for what is becoming the annual half term trip to Alton Towers.

The kids love it (and I must admit, so do I!). October half term is always a good laugh with Scarefest going on.

Using a different site this year, a small independent as we weren't that impressed with the C&CC The Star site last year.

We're going here: http://www.lmtp.co.uk/index.php

3 night stay and 2 day entry into Alton Towers with reserved parking all for under £200. That's what I like about caravans!

Looks lovely! Like you say - looks a destination in itself.

Could quite easily see myself doing a week or so at Chanteloup, then cutting across country to Dijon for another week or so before heading back up to Calais.

From Calais its an easy cruise down to be honest, Ive done it over night with the kids asleep, and another early morning to arrive mid/late afternoon.

The onsite resturant is brilliant, as is the pizza take aways which are made fresh. Their own wine also makes the drive very worthwhile.

And if you like exploring, we took a few bikes out with the kids along the river and then back through a few really lovely rustic villages. The main town is a drive away but has everything you need along one street.

Happy Travelling!!! I'll be there hopefully next year.

Thinking doing a long loop next spring. Calais down thru Slovenia via Munich to Greece. Up/east to Romania. NW up to Berlin and back.

Say 2/3 months. Get some sun on our bones down in Croatia/Greece and as it warms up back up for an early summer and b4 prices rise.

Anyone done anything similar?

Towing a caravan.

Only a week and a half until our trip to Alton Towers! Can't wait for what will be our last trip away this year.

Starting to think about 2017 already.....

Just got the dog back from the Kennels (Two nights away with work) and checked their availability, free every weekend until Christmas,

Odd they have bookings for Christmas, I thought a dog was for life and not just... etc? Weird swing on that one.

So we may just do a few more trips away this year.

P.S. the dog is big and not friendly to the other four legged ones, Plus we like to do things that you can't take dogs to. Its unfair to leave the dog in the car or van for a long period too.
