Well we went away last weekend, toilet flush went permanent on! removed the board, scary moment of the tank filling! TV aerial connection wouldn't work!, Hot water failed on Sunday morning!

Despite all this we are off again this weekend WITH the dog. We will see how it goes.

Anyone else planning any winter trips?

Sorry to hear that. I had a rush Job this morning checking the van was ok after a few nights of heavy frost and forgetting to "winterise". Thankfully everything is ok, but turned the blown air heating on at 8degs to keep all the pipework frost-free and plugged it in to Charge since the batteries had taken a bit of a hammering with the cold weather also.

Good luck with the dog - we've just got one and we did a quick testrun with her up to Thetford for the day the weekend before last. Next trip will be an overnight or two to see how she (we) manage. Normally we'd go away during November as I almost prefer motorhoming during the off season as opposed to peak season.

Let us know how you get on.

We had half term down at Charmouth and then across at Southampton for a couple of days. We have a long weekend in Nov planned up near Hereford; then another early Dec at Slimbridge; then mid Wales between Xmas and NY for 5 nights.

It'll be 2017 then so we'll have to start another thread biggrin

Tucked mine back into Storage a couple of weeks ago after a short sharp last time visit to Bashley Park.

First year since being a van owner that we wont be away over New Year - and already questioning that choice..........but limited to sites as good as the one we have been going to for the past couple (need a break from it - Cofton in Devon if your interested).

Started to look at a possible Tour of France/Italy and Germany next year. Or just a stay down at Port Grimaud.

This is the fist winter for a few years that I am not planning our big summer tour as we are going to move house next year so dont know what our plans will be, timings-wise.

We will be doing some trips abroad but they will be shorter than our normal month long and will be more impromptu. The Netherlands are on the cards for one trip I think: we have only stayed there once and want to see more. If we can get a long tour in I think across the Netherlands, northern Germany and into Denmark might be favourite.

We'll be doing our usual weekends away throughout the year though smile

Last year the gas part of the room heater failed , and we were limited to 10a on electricity on a hook up in the New Forest to run caravan heater , water heater , kettle , etc etc , so had to balance load to keep under 2kw , gas heater was a failed thermocouple , easy fix . then away in France in the summer the blade valve on the caravan toilet stuck , so there I was in the middle of a caravan site with my head stuck in the opening for the waste tank trying to fix the out of alignment gears ,ended up using the towing mirror to see the cogs and trying to work in reverse to re align them .
Just had a week on the Isle Of Wight , all went well there .
Next trip is day after Boxing Day , the CC site at Broadway in the Cotswolds until New Years Day , the caravan will then be laid up until the summer and France .
