Site recommendations for New Year

Afternoon all, just planning a short break over the New Year, any site recommendations? I'm in the Manchester area and would prefer something within a 2 hour range.

I was coming along with a similar sort of question. Wife's birthday New Years Eve sensible options like party at home, holiday abroad etc seem to have been ruled out. So considering taking the caravan away instead. Site needs to be dog friendly, and am in Sussex so preferably not at Lands End or John o'groats!

The bread knife has just spoken directly to the Camping and Caravanning Club and they are coming up with zero availability for this year.....Looks like we'll need a plan B.

The Holgates Bay view & Silverdale are good, nice and handy for Manchester.
I prefer Bay view.

Incidentially I checked the Camping and Caravan website the other day, and found most sites I checked that were open had availability.

Go to www.myccc.co.uk/festivecamping which gives a list of the open sites. You can then click on the one you want to investigate, and then make a booking. Will give you details of available pitches.

We stayed new year last year at C&CC Teversal (just off the M1 in Nottinghamshire.).

There was snow on the ground and a lot of people had cancelled I guess so it was pretty quiet. Lovely heated toilet blocks and massive walk-in showers.

We had a great meal New Years Day at the pub 5 mins walk away. We didn't make it to midnight as we had a baby with us but a few of the caravans and owners of the site had a glass of champagne and went up the hill opposite the site (highest point in Nottinghamshire) to watch fireworks.

I looked the other day actually as there was some availability this year, but it is minimum 3 nights over this period. It came up at £37 a night for 2 adults, 1 9 year old and 1 2 year old.

It was nice...but maybe not over £100 nice. I don't think I paid as much lastyear, but then my step daughter didn't come either last year.

One of my favourite sites is The Quiet Site up at Penrith. A bit isolated but they have a bar and generally music over New Year. Haven't done Xmas or New Year yet but it's on my list of to do's.

You could try Riverside in High Bentham really nice site close to the village they do take Christmas and New Year bookings

Have a look at Sumners ponds. A great site, very clean and the onsite restuarant / bar often has live music.

We wet there a few times for winter getaways.
