Well, we made it back after 32 nights away. 2,985 miles at 28.2mpg...not too shabby at all

We stayed at/in

- Kent
- France (near La Cupole)
- Belgium
- Berkamen (D) (stelplatz)
- Wofsburg
- Berlin
- near Zary (Pol)
- Wroclaw
- Krakow
- Frydek-Mistek (CR)
- Brno
- Prague
- Colditz (D)
- Eisenach (stelplatz)
- Koblenz
- Koln
- Arnhem (NL)
- Ghent (B)
- Kent

I am more than happy to provide the link and some feedback on any of the sites we stayed at if anyone is interested.

The weather was mixed across Germany but red hot in Poland and the CR. It started being more mixed again as we made our way back west.

The welcome was excellent: we met some lovely people; saw some lovely things; ate some lovely food; drank some lovely (and some indifferent) beer!

The Eurotunnel performed well both ways with no delays and no dramas. We saw a few migrants wandering down the road and in fields some 20km into France from Belgium but apart from that, nowt. Interestingly when you enter France from Belgium on the main road down to Calais, all traffic is taken off on what looks like roadworks but is actually a checkpoint. We came off and had to go around a small roundabout before going straight back on the main road. The roundabout had a number of armed police and armed soldiers around it who cast a beady eye on all the traffic!

The moho performed well apart from...

- The Truma boiler sprang a leak somewhere early in the trip so by the time we got to Krakow our spare bedding/towels etc which were stowed under our bed were wet and rather fetid! We managed too get a machine wash done and then when we got to Prague spent a day at a moho place where a most excellent chap stripped the boiler; replaced parts; and reinstalled. Labour was only €20 and hour and this chap was a certified Truma engineer.

- The central locking doesn't now lock the hab door! We have to manually lock that now.

- The fly mesh door on the hab door gave up the ghost so I'm replacing with a hanging down fly mesh

- The TV didn't want to work on our last morning in Kent...which was strange.

Incidentally we managed to get UK satellite TV in Koln with our Teleco dish so I assume it would have worked in the Netherlands and Belgium as well but we didn't put it on whilst there tbh.

Some of the roads in Poland defy belief as to how bad they are...AND they charge you to use them!!! Seriously we did a 50km stretch between Zary and Wroclaw and even at low speeds we felt physically sick by then end and both had headaches. Be warned! The roads are better in the CR but they too have their moments (but no where near as bad as the road in Poland).

All in all a fantastic trip. We are planning on moving house next year so have no plans for a big summer trip as of now as we wont know what we are doing. The plan is too do some shorter trips if we can : Netherlands and N Germany for a fortnight; France for a week...that kind of thing.

Off to Modbury over Bank Holiday so only 2 weeks to wait for our next trip

Will do. Excuse the snaps as I'm not the worlds best photographer by any means....and apologies if some are the wrong way around too!

I have only included ones of Poland and the Czech Republic as you mentioned eastern Europe. If you want some of Germany/NL etc just pop a post on.

Cheers

We loved both Poland and Czech when we motorhomed there last year - don't tell everyone, they'll ruin it !

We're planning on another visit next summer, all being well.

If your van is an Autotrail, don't have a dealer repair the central locking on the hab door, they'll nail your hat on.

You can get a replacement actuator from Maplins for about eight quid and it's an easy diy fix just taking the inner panel part way off.

I would say more sporadic. I certainly did my research and booked ahead however they are tolerant of wild camping (if you are in a MoHo) by all accounts.

Camperstop Europe 2016 only lists 15 places for the CR and 29 for Poland as Aires/Stelplatz equivalents but some of them look like bone fide campsites tbh.

Drop me a PM if you want and I'll gladly send you info on the sites we stayed at...
