Hi All,

Hoping some of you can help! We are involved in motorsport (race a TVR) and upto now have generally slept in the back of the van (home made bed with proper caravan type double mattrass - comfy and serves its purpose!). Now have a little one so needing something bigger!

Can't justify spending mega bucks (cheapest I've seen that would be suitable for two adults and a one year old is £20k+) as we only frace maybe 8 times per year! So, after some info of where is best to hire from? We live County Durham in the North East and would need a towbar. Also, I can't drive over 3500kg (have done trailer test).

Ideally looking to be able to hire by the day (we leave Friday return Sunday most of the time).

Many thanks in advance!!

Hmmmm..... I don't have any knowledge about hiring motor homes, but I reckon finding a rental with a tow bar will be like finding a needle in a haystack!

Good luck!

Might be worth giving Bunk Motorhomes a call. Found them via the camping and Caravanning club website. Seem to have locations all over UK though nothing there says about towbar but got to be worth a call?

I would imagine you will struggle big time here. Also given the cost of motorhome hire I would have imagined you would be better off financially buying a van and converting it out to suit your needs

Thanks for the replies so far guys! Problem with buying is storage! Already have a works van with a bed in it and can't justify massive outlay for 6-8 times per year, plus would have to yax/test/insure/store it which all costs! I know a couple of the guys have managed to find places down south and pay couple of hundred quid a weekend (plus fuel etc) amd was hoping to find something like that!

We wouldn't use it outside of the racing hence no point in buying! If I was going to buy something Id do my class2 amd get a race truck lol!

Hmmm - a couple of hundred quid a weekend 6-8 times a year is about 1200-1600 quid a year. I own a motorhome that I rent out that costs me less than that per year and I use it for 4-6 weeks most years.

It is stored at the dealer and I tell them when I want it in advance to make sure they don't book it out on rental. It works well.

Hi Glen. That sounds very interesting! Would you mind telling me more about that? You can email me if you'd rather it not public for figures etc - ctsracing@hotmail.com

Cheers

If you fancy PM'ing me a copy of this I would like a read and would be appreciative smile was made aware of such setups at Autosport a couple of years ago but not really looked too far into it.
