Thetford emptying
Discussion
I'm going to call the next house I buy. " Thetford House " only a few will get the meaning LOL. So far I have bought the pink cistern chem but nowhere to put it and the camping quick dissolve loo paper where as I could have bought the cheap Aldi paper as no difference except I paid £7.00 for 8 rolls as apposed to £2.67 I hope I savvy up soon or my wallet will be emptied by silly mistakes.

Don't worry @77racing, we've all been there and done it! Soon cotton on to what works and doesn't and where you don't have to buy branded stuff and can get away with cheaper substitutes.
Like the "Thetford Towers" idea!
@oblio - found that out when I got the current cassette. The original one had a leak so when shopping around for replacements, I ended up getting the refresh set and found it weird that it was cheaper doing that than buying the cassette on its own.

If you have 2 cassettes, where do you put the full one whilst driving around?!
Don't fancy that sloshing around in the caravan or boot of the car!
Dig a hole, dispose. Sorted.
We've got several outside, underslung lockers which would be suitable. But the main one I would use is the so-called "wet locker" which has drainage holes in it and designed for boots or wet gear. Worst case scenario that there's some spillage, it's going to drain out of the locker but certainly nowhere near where we want to eat, sleep or spend time.Don't fancy that sloshing around in the caravan or boot of the car!

No solids into our cassette! It fills up quick enough without them anyway!
Forget your fancy chemicals, I've been using liquid biological clothes detergent (as I heard others do too) as a tank additive. Cheap stuff from Aldi/Lidl seems to work the best. Smells much nicer and doesn't stain everything blue/green.
Can I ask, what ratio of water are you diluting it down too ? I want to try this idea myself sounds very good ideaForget your fancy chemicals, I've been using liquid biological clothes detergent (as I heard others do too) as a tank additive. When it's empty I add about a litre of water and add a capful of the washing detergent. It starts to smell, you can add a bit more. Make sure it's the bio one, as it has the enzymes and stuff that helps the breakdown. The trouble is that any chemicals/sachets etc need time to work so if you are emptying the bog every 2 days, the chances are they havent had time to make the primordial soup people speak of.
The chemicals will however, mask the smell...to an extent.
I use...

and get around 50 doses for a tenner. Does a good job smell wise.
