Any one had a Fiat Ducato 2001 2.8JDT fly by wire Chipped ? If so what did you think to the extra grunt and fuel economy. What sort of money should I expect to pay. Will I get a decent time return , not like Double glazing where it takes 25 long dull bleak years to get your money back from the savings biggrin

I have a 2003 2.8JTD and was thinking of getting a remap. Reports are generally good and the price is ~£300 for a proper remap. One thing I found is some have reported clutch slipping later on, but probably due to style of driving (and there doesn't seem to be an uprated clutch you can buy).

Just had my clutch replaced wasn't that expensive at all. My garage said a remap chip will not affect a good clutch so I think it was a duff clutch nearly on the way out before he chipped it. Having mine mapped on Tuesday with a super chip agent. he recons to go for a medium chip upgrade 30bhp and 60 more torque approx with better fuel economy. I will be towing a car trailer and race car, so will wake it right up.
A mate of mine chipped a 2005 Burstner 747 and he said it has transformed his van drive immensely

The fuel economy claims on diesel remaps should be taken with a pinch of salt, they go faster, true, but at cruise the mpg is the same and you tend to drive them faster and use a bit more in my experience.
But they are nicer to drive with a map tweaked so go for it.

Yep, had it done last week. Only driven it for a few miles over last weekend but defiantly got lots more oomph. Not had a chance to drive it up a steep hill yet but i'm confident it feels so much better on the flat that it should take hills in it's stride.

Mine is a fly by wire early 2001 model but had no 16 pin port to plug into. Apparently the Fiat has 32 different models of ECU on the Ducato. They tried doing it through the diagnostic port which some times will work. Not for my ECU so just had to send it up to them on the Monday and got it back on the Wednesday. Fitted it again in 10 mins and she fire up and ran no problem first time.

I will report back once I have had a longish run out in her to see if there is any improvement in the mpg .
